Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, came under fire for the judgments he made while the team was playing Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The hosts rummy ola scored the highest-ever IPL total of 277/3 on the scoreboard after Hardik gave them the order to bat first, igniting a runfest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Mumbai Indians bowlers looked lost on a flat batting field as Heinrich Klaasen (80*), Abhishek Sharma (63), and Travis Head (62), the SRH batters, caused havoc.
Hardik again used Jasprit Bumrah as the first bowling change of the powerplay. This move generated criticism from several quarters, given that Head had by then solidified his position in dafabet the middle.
He too went a touch defensive when MI bowlers were being hammered around the field by SRH batters. Pandya was chastised on X by former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan for his unremarkable captaincy and for keeping Bumrah from attacking when things were not going well for MI.
“Hardik Pandya has, at most, been a lousy leader. Pathan said, “I couldn’t understand why Bumrah betway was separated from him for such a long time during the violence.”
With 36 runs in four overs, Bumrah was MI’s most economical bowler, taking three wickets for 14 runs against the Gujarat Titans. He was also the only bowler to score fewer than 10 runs per over. Bumrah was not able to grab a wicket against SRH, though.
Former SRH head coach Tom Moody also harshly condemned Pandya’s decision to defend Bumrah from the assault.
Hey Jasprit Bumrah, how are you doing? The game is virtually finished if your best bowler bowls just ONE over! As Moody put it, “#SRHvMI.”
Considering that MI had lost their previous IPL match, Pandya’s trip home did not go as planned. Capturing the visitors’ bowling attack, the Orange Army scored 277/3, the highest total in IPL history.
The MI vs. SRH IPL match saw Hardik Pandya’s “ordinary captaincy” hammer left, right, and center as he keeps “Bumrah away”.
